Fleet Supervisor - San Diego

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of both proprietary Company and Carrier truck fleets. Supervises a team of Transport Drivers and assists the Fleet Manager, (FM) in directing the day-to-day activities of the Transport Operations as it relates to truck resource planning, scheduling, loading and delivering of bulk petroleum products to customers. Assists the Fleet Manager maintaining regulatory compliance and is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.


  • Provides supervision, guidance and leadership to ensure that all Transport employees are accountable for safe, environmentally sound and compliant operations. Maintains knowledge and provides direction regarding of compliance company and government policies (i.e. operations, personnel, HSSE, DOT).
  • Manages edits and audits onboard vehicle computers (OVC); Reviews daily dispatch and trip standards and takes appropriate action. Ensures that delivery reliability and availability meets agreed to customer delivery needs.
  • Manage internal relationships with the Regional Scheduling Center, Terminal Operations, Convenience Retail, US Fuels and external relationships with customers, suppliers and external transport carriers. Seeks and shares work practices with colleagues to improve productivity and HSSE performance.
  • Ensures DOT compliance of Transport Operations(CDL with Hazmat, Random Drug Testing, Log Sheets, XATA, etc.) Reports all HSSE incidents as required to their Fleet Manager.
  • Directs supervision of the proprietary Transport drivers and indirect management of third party carriers. Communicates and reinforces expectations, policies and Road Safety Standards. Develops and promotes Safety Awareness Programs.


  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport or logistics business required.

  • Minimum 2 years’ Supervisory experience required.


  • HSSE experience particularly with road safety management.

  • Sound understanding of the motor carrier environment.

  • Familiar with laws and regulations governing proprietary Transport operations (DOT regulations).

  • Good oral and written and communications skills with all levels, especially with transport drivers.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are critical to the success in this job.

  • Good computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TMI, XATA and Tr@ction.
