Terminal Automation Specialist

SUMMARY

Terminal Automation team is responsible for providing 24/7 support to field Operations, I&E Engineering, Quality assurance, Marketing, Commercial and several other departments to ensure quality fuel is delivered to our customers. The team strives for minimal downtime at 20+ terminal automation racks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintains stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity); handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and to the organization. 24/7 on-call rotation.
  2. Responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment at truck loading/offloading racks such as; load rack presets, additive systems and occasionally PLC.
  3. Possesses the technical/professional expertise required to do the job effectively and to create effective customer solutions. Technical/professional expertise is demonstrated through problem solving and applying technical knowledge.
  4. Accuload electronic load controllers interface into the load rack metering system. General operation, programming, installation, wiring and communication functions of Accuload / PLC.
  5. Develop and maintain Terminal Automation manuals & automation procedures and ensure they are well-written and consistent with current corporate policies.
  6. Debug and optimize terminal automation programs; maintain program and system files backup; maintain software and communication networks. (Ethernet and Modbus)
  7. Interface with management, operations, and engineering for day-to-day operations and new project execution.
  8. Travel up to 50% (Average 30%, but driven by project schedule /workload).
  9. Participate as a member of Acquisition Transition Teams to provide transition implementation, support and procedure gap analysis and ensure that thorough assimilation of facilities, employees, and best practices continues after acquisition.
  10. Basic knowledge and familiarity with load rack or batching operations.
  11. Maximizes use of terminal automation software by training and answering customers and other end users.
  12. Problem Solving, Presenting Technical Information, Process Improvement, Software Maintenance and Software Testing.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Science Technology or Engineering preferred. 10+years of relevant industry experience and a high schoold diploma can be accepted in lieu of a degree.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years pipeline/terminal automation experience required.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline and terminal maintenance, operations, regulations, emergency response, and technical procedures is highly desirable.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Maintains stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity); handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and to the organization. 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Technical experience of communication between load rack hardware and Terminal automation system.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with load rack or batching operations.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or Oracle programming
  • Accuload III programming & wiring
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Travel up to 50% (Average 30%, but driven by project schedule /workload).
