POSITION SUMMARY:

Directs the Payroll activities and staff responsible for meeting the end to end Payroll. Manages and oversees disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to federal, state, and local agencies. Leads a team through acquisition integration, compliance, cost reduction while ensuring payroll accuracy and timeliness.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic direction for payroll operations, vendor management, outsourcing governance, day-to-day service delivery, and issue resolution and project management.
  • Oversees payroll processing, compliance and accounting activities, including exempt and non-exempt payrolls, monthly/quarterly accounting close activities, account maintenance and reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis. 3. Overall management, analysis and compliance of payroll operations and related activities that ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for multi-state payroll.
  • Manages tax compliance issues and ensures project goals/milestones are met for Payroll compliance.
  • Monitors and evaluates all payroll actions to ensure compliance with company policy, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manages acquisition initiatives that impact payroll, escalate any operational issues or significant resource or compliance requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience working in a multi-state payroll department.
  • Strong experience in development of efficiencies in payroll processes, directing changes, and internal controls.
  • In-depth knowledge of US tax payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including current federal, multi-state, and local payroll tax experience.
  • Proven leadership skills, ability to lead, motivate, manage and develop.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and resolving issues.
  • Proficiency with SAP.
