Buyer/Planner - Mid Con Logistics & TDR

Summary:

The MRP Buyer/Planner will plan and manage the stock inventory replenishment process. They will collaborate with appropriate maintenance and operations planning groups in the development of schedules, replenishment strategies and procurement of materials in support of those schedules. This role is also responsible for supplier performance and reporting, particularly in the areas of on-time/accurate order fulfillment and overall compliance to contract. It requires a high level of interaction and coordination with maintenance, operations, procurement, finance, asset recovery specialists, and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Prepares and executes inventory replenishment plans in a timely manner to meet customer demand while maintaining financial discipline
  • Conducts routine reviews of shortages and aging purchase orders; expedites deliveries, reports and takes action to maintain required inventory levels
  • Works closely with the warehouse leadership to help forecast future storage requirements as well as negotiate/facilitate material returns to suppliers to reduce overstock
  • Participates in the maintenance and operations planning process on site, responsible for identifying potential spare parts support issues and mitigation plans
  • Manages expedited deliveries as needed to ensure timely customer support, and performs root cause analysis to develop countermeasures which will prevent future shortages as appropriate
  • Manages and analyzes performance of material kitting
  • Routinely evaluates opportunities to establish automated material replenishment processes that minimize or eliminate the need for buyer intervention
  • Works closely with maintenance and reliability groups to effectively manage the repair of inventoried spare parts, kits and assemblies

Purchasing:

  • Manages all stock material purchasing activities including but not limited to:
  • Generating RFQs and POs
  • Performing cost and price analyses
  • Quote and invoice reconciliations
  • Identifies and selects appropriate vendor(s) for necessary goods while insuring compliance to Category strategies, approved manufacturers, and preferred suppliers
  • Maintains strong market knowledge with respect to the spare parts and materials within their portfolio
  • Performs value-cost analysis and drives total cost of ownership reduction initiatives
  • Manages the cost, quality and timely delivery of stock materials
  • Ensures all stock material purchase orders are created using material masters, accurate delivery by dates and contract pricing
  • Regularly collaborates with requisitioners (end users) and planners on use of SAP to improve quality of requisitions and planned work orders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Supply Chain Management, Supply chain analytics, Business or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience
  • LSS certification – minimum of green belt preferred
  • APICS or ISM certification preferred
  • Minimum 7 years as buyer/planner in procurement, contract administration or related experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with ERP/MRP systems, with SAP Materials Management software, inventory optimization and spend analytics including demonstrated understanding of the ERP/MRP data structures is required
  • Minimum 5 years use of MS Office tools, including but not limited to MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Experienced with collaboration in operational planning sessions, identifying and documenting material requirements associated with planned work activities and timelines
