Superintendent, EHS Systems

SUMMARY

Manages refinery’s incident and investigation programs and leads cross-functional team towards zero incident workplace. Ensures event learnings are institutionalized. Manages external and internal audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards and guidelines. Manages site’s EHS system applications and site OEMS (Operational Excellence Management System) program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Manages the development, implementation, and use of business practices to improve refinery’s reliability and EHS (environmental health safety) performance.

2.Provides technical expertise and develops cross-departmental capability throughout refinery on root cause analysis techniques.

3.Oversees incident investigation and root cause analysis programs. Reviews reports and provides guidance in the development of gap closure plans. Evaluates recommendations to ensure effectiveness in preventing reoccurrence. Ensures investigation findings and recommendations are appropriately communicated throughout refinery and company as appropriate.

4.Collaborates with industry and corporate subject matter experts (SMEs) to apply best practices and event learnings.

5.Manages EHS data system applications and communicates due dates for compliance obligations and action items. Monitors and maintains site guidelines for EH&S related controlled documents. Ensures record retention for EHS documents meets corporate policy and regulatory guidelines.

6.Calculates and maintains performance metrics for EHS and other investigation work streams.

7.Manages EHS and other audit activities to assess compliance with applicable regulations and company policies and guidelines. Manages tracking of audit recommendations to closure.

8.Works with corporate to assure site’s OEMS program is effective and functional. Serves as LOEMS (local Operations Excellence Management System) coordinator working extensively with refinery departments to ensure content is current, complete and accurate.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

· Minimum undergraduate degree in engineering or EHS discipline required.

Experience

· Minimum 7 years process engineering and/or industrial EH&S experience in refining industry required.

· Energy industry experience preferred.

· Experience administering environmental, safety and process safety programs preferred

Skills

· Effective oral and written communication skills.
