POSITION SUMMARY

Supporting a new Fleet Operation in Alaska, the Fleet Operations Supervisor will be a key component in start-up activities for the Alaska Fleet Operations to include resource, equipment, training, and schedule coordination as well as facility set up. From the onset, this role will maintain responsibility for the safe, efficient and cost effective operation of a proprietary Company fleet, supervising a team of Transport Drivers, and directing the day-to-day activities of the Transport Operations as it relates to truck resource planning, scheduling, loading and delivering of bulk petroleum products to customers.

The duties of this role also include ensuring operations are maintained according to any Federal, State, and/or Local regulations, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays on call support and is expected to perform hazmat fuel deliveries and is required to have a valid Class A with appropriate endorsements and TSA clearances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Start-up business accountabilities for new fleet operation in Anchorage, AK. Will be accountable to build and maintain key business relationships with internal & external customers, set-up and manage new facility, identify key vendors and coordinate agreements; manage employee hiring, manage equipment/resource needs.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to ensure that all Transport employees are productive and held accountable for safe, environmentally sound and compliant operations. Maintains and updates employees’ knowledge and provides direction regarding compliance, company and government policies (i.e. operations, personnel, EHS, DOT).
  • Manages, edits and audits onboard vehicle computers (OVC); Reviews daily dispatch and trip standards and takes appropriate action. Ensures that delivery reliability and availability meets agreed to customer delivery needs.
  • Manages internal relationships with Central Dispatch, Terminal Operations, Convenience Retail, and external relationships with customers, suppliers and external transport carriers. Seeks and shares work practices with colleagues to improve productivity and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) performance.
  • Ensures DOT compliance of Transport Operations (CDL with Hazmat, Random Drug Testing, Hours of Service logs, On Vehicle Computer, etc.) Reports all incidents as required and provides local incident response.
  • Directs supervision of the proprietary Transport drivers and indirect relationship with third party carriers. Communicates and reinforces expectations, policies and Road Safety Standards. Develops and promotes Safety Awareness Programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport or logistics business required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ Supervisory experience required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • EHS experience particularly with road safety management
  • Sound understanding of the motor carrier environment
  • Familiar with laws and regulations governing proprietary Transport operations (DOT regulations)
  • Good oral and written and communications skills with all levels, especially with transport drivers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are critical to the success in this job
  • Good computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PeopleNet
